This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, manage and apply individual or collaborative copyright arrangements for original works.

It applies to individuals who have responsibility for identifying intellectual property requirements, assigning copyright and licensing rights, and ensuring copyright is protected locally and internationally.

No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.

Confirm and agree to jurisdictions in which licensing rights may be exercised with relevant parties 
Confirm and agree to the timeframe of the licence with relevant parties 
Confirm and agree to the terms of use of the original work or licence with relevant parties 
Confirm and agree on creative control of the original work with relevant parties 
Negotiate fees relevant to the context of the agreement with relevant parties 
Confirm and agree on responsibility for enforcing copyright against infringement 
Confirm and agree terms with copyright collecting societies 
Record terms relating to licensing agreement in a formal contract signed by relevant parties in accordance with legal obligations and organisational policies and procedures 
Store copyright documentation in a secure and accessible form for retrieval in accordance with organisational procedures 
Identify and confirm responsibility to comply with conditions of copyright agreement
